The entire Barsoum Dental team is committed to the comfort and health of its valued guests. Since dental issues are often accompanied by serious pain and discomfort, many of our guests come to us in distress. Our Chino/Chino Hills and Upland endodontist services represent just one facet of our dedication to responsive, whole-patient dentistry.
A root canal is a procedure that removes infected pulp inside of a tooth. Then the root canal is cleaned, disinfected, and filled to seal the space.
Persistent aching, sharp pain, or cracking within a tooth may indicate that its pulp has become infected and requires a root canal procedure.
Before the development of the root canal procedure, infected teeth were viewed as serious threats to guests' health. Rather than risk more dire consequences, even the most experienced dentists would remove such teeth. Over the course of a lifetime, the typical person could expect to lose several teeth in this manner.
Our root canal treatment changes this calculation. The team at Barsoum Dental in Upland and Chino/Chino Hills, including four on-staff Upland endodontists with years of experience and "patient-first" philosophies of care, can quickly, safely and painlessly remove diseased tissue from within an infected tooth. After removal, they fill the revitalized, decontaminated tooth with an inert substance that preserves its structure and provides years of comfortable, complication-free chewing.
True to our patient-first commitment, our root canal therapy offers clear benefits for your long-term health and comfort.
Of course, one of the main goals of a root canal is to eliminate your root pain and soreness
A root canal will dramatically reduce the risk of further infection
Preserving the natural appearance of the affected tooth -- giving you the confidence to flash your smile
Preserving or improving your bite force and chewing ability
Root canals will also protect your adjacent teeth from infection
When you visit Dr. Barsoum or one of our endodontists for a consultation, you'll receive a comprehensive oral exam that identifies the offending tooth and establishes a plan for an expedient, long-lasting solution. Before your root canal therapy, we'll take X-rays to determine the extent of the infection and ensure that the procedure is as direct as possible.
You don't need to be nervous about your upcoming root canal. On the day of your therapy, your endodontist will use anesthesia that eliminates any associated pain. During treatment, the infected tooth's pulp will be removed, and the tooth's interior will be disinfected. Next, you'll receive a temporary sealant. Within a week or two, you'll return for a follow-up visit where the sealant is replaced with a comfortable, permanent filling.

"I am a regular patient but had to come in same day as an emergency when I developed severe pain. They were able to fit me into the schedule with no issue. I was treated amazingly well by all of the staff. I was very nervous when they told me I would need the first phase of a root canal, but they reassured me and the procedure was pain-free. The doctor and his staff are very attentive and are concerned with making sure you are comfortable at all times. Couldn't recommend them more, they are all great from Vicky up front to the MD and all of his staff."
I don't normally make reviews, but I feel compelled after having such a great experience. I suffer from dental phobia/anxiety. I mean it is so severe that I have to take valume before my visits. well, I use to... My root canal went so smoothly that I was able to sit through my next appointment on my own. I don't think words can explain how good the Dr. and his staff are at making you comfortable and at ease. This is definitely the place for someone who has had bad experiences in the past.
I had been with another dental office, but saw Dr. Barsoum's office for a specialty (Endo). My first interaction was with Dr. Barsoum; let me tell you.. this man is very kind, caring, and so professional! I really like how he goes over and beyond for the patient experience. Dr. Edalat is also a class act. He is so gentle with his hands. He performed a root canal on me.. I promise you, I felt nothing, and I even went to work that same night for 12 hours with no pain meds or issues. I also liked how Dr. Barsoum PERSONALLY calls you, the patient, the evening of your visit to see how every thing went, to see if you have any concerns or are in pain. That says a lot! Most doctors don't care what happens to you after you leave their office, but Dr. Barsoum does, and I highly respect him for that. I recommend Dr. Barsoum and Dr. Edalat for all of your dental needs. These doctors are amazing!
"The staff are wonderful and friendly. Dr. Barsoum is the most caring Dentist I have ever met. I went in for two fillings and a root canal. I was expecting it to be very painful, but to my surprise it was not. Dr. Barsoum took really good care of me when I was there, and he even makes "checkup" call to make sure I'm doing fine. Overall, my experience there was just WONDERFUL!"
I had to have a root canal re-done that another dentist did incorrectly. Dr. Edalat made sure I was comfortable at all times. He was done before I knew it and didn't feel any pain at all. The entire staff are wonderful.
